Welcome to Kweendom: LGBTQ Comedians Make Pride Personal with Stories of Love, Loss, Sex, and Everything Under The Rainbow

Now you can take one of New York City’s most beloved queer comedy shows home with you, no Grindr required. Kweendom is making the leap from stage to page with a brand new collection of essays from LGBTQ+ writers, including a foreword by award-winning actor Alan Cumming.

Inspired by the long-running LGBTQ+ comedy show TimeOUT called “consistently dope” and Thrillist described as “extremely gay,” Welcome to Kweendom: LGBTQ Comedians Make Pride Personal with Stories of Love, Loss, Sex, and Everything Under The Rainbow (Wheatfield Press) is a hilarious (and at times heartbreaking) collection of personal essays supplied by some of NYC’s favorite queer comedians and storytellers.

The stories inside Kweendom correspond to the symbolism of each stripe in the Pride flag (Life, Healing, Sunlight, Nature, Harmony, Spirit). From coming out to finding love, from awkward adolescent moments to unfiltered dispatches from a Berlin sex club, Kweendom features essays from a diverse, intergenerational collection of LGBTQ people who show there are many colors to this rainbow.

In keeping with Kweendom tradition, proceeds from the book will be donated to Immigration Equality, an organization that provides direct legal services, policy advocacy, and impact litigation for immigrants and families facing discrimination based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or HIV status.

KWEENDOM (a New York Times and TimeOut NY critics’ pick) is a monthly comedy and storytelling showcase featuring all LGBTQ performers. In 2016, Kweendom was a featured performance at Flame Con (New York City’s LGBTQ comic con), StoryFest and the Speak Up, Rise Up Festival.
